Closing days at ski resorts makes you think of ponds (because of pond skims), slushies (because of the snow texture) and maybe corn (also because of the snow).

But is there any other food closing days make you think of? Think about it as you stare at the photo posted by Alta, UT, below.

It makes a lot of sense, really. Hot dogs do have a sort of celebratory quality to them: thinking about occasions we eat hot dogs brings to mind the fourth of July, birthday parties, and summer barbecues.

As summer approaches, sadly, Alta will no longer be open as of April 21st.

The Utah skiers-only resort finished the season with 621 inches of snowfall and a base depth of 150 inches.

Also, look at the photo again. That skier is wearing Vishnu skis. I only know Vishnu from their edits on YouTube, but I get the sense that most people who know about the brand, and use the skis, rip.

That hot dog is certainly spraying some corn snow in that turn. Or should we say, there's a hot dog with a side of corn?

No, we shouldn't. See you next fall at Alta, and here's to great seasons, no matter what you dress as to celebrate spring.
