Detroit Lions quarterback Hendon Hooker took to social media on Tuesday to offer his opinions about the current landscape of collegiate athletics, more specifically, the ever-changing NIL saga. Hooker starred at the University of Tennessee for two seasons, amassing 58 passing touchdowns against just five interceptions in orange and white.

"Young bulls please do not be a slave to these college collectives. Read your contracts with your attorney and ask every question... don't be in such a rush to make this little bit of money when the end goal is way bigger."

The Detroit Lions selected Hooker with the No. 68 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. He spent his rookie season recovering from his ACL injury against the South Carolina Gamecocks. Starting quarterback Jared Goff had a fantastic season for the Lions, leading them to a division title and the NFC Championship Game. Goff has one season left on his contract and is eligible for an extension this offseason.

While it seems the Lions would opt to bring back Goff and continue climbing, Hooker will be an option moving forward if they so choose.
