Chiefs bring back two-time Super Bowl champion Mike Danna in wake of L'Jarius Sneed trade

The Kansas City Chiefs have spent their newly freed salary cap space from the L'Jarius Sneed trade wisely, bringing back their top remaining free agent according to a new report.

According to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, the Chiefs have brought back DE Mike Danna on a three-year deal worth up to $24 million with $13 million in guaranteed money. The team aimed to get this deal done after the Sneed trade and ahead of the 2024 NFL draft. This will be Danna's second NFL contract in Kansas City and the first Brett Veach draft pick to get a multi-year deal to return to the team (h/t Kristian Gumminger).

A 2020 fifth-round draft pick out of Michigan, Danna has appeared in 59 regular season games with Kansas City, including 23 career starts. In that span, he has recorded 128 total tackles, 17 tackles for loss, 17 sacks, 39 QB hits, four forced fumbles and four passes batted. He’s appeared in 13 playoff games with four career playoff starts with 20 total tackles, a tackle for loss, one sack, and six QB hits during the postseason.

With Kansas City, Danna became a two-time Super Bowl champion. He appeared in Super Bowl LV against the Buccaneers, Super Bowl LVII against the Eagles, and Super Bowl LVIII against the 49ers.
