Everyone knows the story of Superman. Clark Kent, a news reporter at the Daily Planet, is just another person who’s trying to blend into society. But when the action gets serious, “it’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s Superman!” That’s who Caio Borralho (16-1) turned into on Saturday, defeating Paul Craig (17-8-1) with a brutal second-round KO.

Granted, “Bearjew” entered the fight with the presence of Darkseid. He looked like an impenetrable force, taking Borralho’s punches with ease. However, the Brazilian got in a barrage of strikes during the middle of the second round. The result? A deadly hook that put the Scottish fighter to sleep. No dragons were being slayed tonight, for Superman arrived to save the day.

Why Fans Should Pay Attention to Caio Borralho

It’s no secret that Borralho loves to swing. He likes going on the offensive, overwhelming his opponents with a flurry of punches. However, he also knows how to efficiently strike. That was on full display on Saturday against Craig, where he patiently waited for the opportunity to unload.

That led to his second-round barrage, where he landed the final blow to defeat the Scotsman. But he couldn’t have done it without wearing down his opponent in the first round. With a steady diet of head punches, Borralho broke down Craig with such efficiency that it was only a matter of time before “Bearjew” fell.

With such striking ability mixed with a fun personality, UFC’s resident “Fighting Nerd” shows why fans should pay attention to him. The Brazilian prides himself on being a student of the game, learning about his opponents and himself.

What’s Next For Borralho?

Caio Borralho should get a top-five fight for his next bout, particularly against Jared Cannonier. The Brazilian did credit the fourth-ranked middleweight as “a scary fighter,” saying that he would be a tough test for Borralho. However, with UFC’s “Fighting Nerd” taking down opponents left and right, that might seem like an easy task.

As for a title shot, that should be in the cards in the future. Currently, Dricus de Plessis is the titleholder, serving as the UFC Middleweight Champion. But for the “Fighting Nerd,” that’s a goal he can achieve. As long as he continues to be a student of the game, he’ll become champion in no time. If he wins? Let’s just say he “told y’all!
