The 2014 NFL Season is just 2 weeks away. And that means it's almost time for Fantasy Football to start. Around this time many fantasy football leagues are having their drafts and drafting their players. Draft day is probably the best time of the Fantasy Football season behind winning the Fantasy Football Championship of course. So I am here to tell you all about the 4 different drafts and how to draft your players. The 4 different types of drafts are offline, auto-pick, snake, and auction. Offline is where you get all of your friends together and have drinks and snacks and have a good time. You make your picks and then your league commissioner will put the picks into the computer and on your team. The old fantasy offline draft saying is that at least one person will not make it to the draft due to being ill or on vacation. Autopick is a very easy draft. It is just an online draft, but the computer picks the players for you based off your player rankings that you can set yourself. A snake draft is another online draft. If its hard to get all of your friends together for an offline draft but you still want to pick your own team then you do a snake draft. Say there are 8 teams in your league like mine, the order of the draft is 1-8 then 8-1. Back and forth like that through the rounds, like an actual snake. Its at least fair for the last pick guy to get the first pick in the next round. Get the reason they call it snake? Now for an auction draft you have a salary cap of 200 fake online dollars and you bid against other owners for a player. Say if you want Peyton Manning for the first pick, you have to bid against the other owners with your fake money for him and you just hope that you can get him.
Now I am going to tell you how to draft your team round by round.
1st-3rd Rounds: It would be best to start off with a QB. Now we know what you are thinking that Running Backs are better. But in my opinion they are not. QB's are just getting better and more valuable by the year. I would start out with a QB then next pick be a running back. Then for the third round, pick a good Wide Receiver.
4th-6th Rounds: These are the rounds where you should pick a tight end in the 4th, and a running back in the 5th, and then a receiver in the 6th. If You keep focusing on QB’s and RB’s in these rounds then you will end up with sub par receivers and you don’t want to be in that position.
7th-12th Rounds: In the 7th and 8th round you should take running backs, then in the 9th and 11th rounds you should take wide receivers, pick a backup QB in the 10th, and finally in the 12th pick a backup tight end.
13-16th Rounds: These are the rounds where you will finish up with kickers and defenses. Be sure to pick your kicker before your defense. Kickers could get 10 to 20 points per game. But the defense has to be outstanding to get 20 points.
Now I am going to do a Mock Draft. You can do mock drafts at Yahoo.com, ESPN.Com, or NFL.com. It is a 16 pick snake draft from ESPN.com. With 8 teams and the 8th pick in the draft.
